Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Trust Ticket Portal

If you’re aged 18 or over, we invite you join us for a laid-back art session and opportunity to meet like-minded people under the guidance of an experienced artist.

Each session has a guest artist and theme, but you’re equally welcome to join us and work on your own project.

We welcome people of all abilities and support workers, and we provide hands-on help if needed.

We provide basic materials, but please bring your own if you need something specific.

Art Group is the third Wednesday of the month, please arrive no earlier than 10am for the morning sessions and 1pm for the afternoon (please note, the afternoon session will be a repeat of the morning session).

The space is fully wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilet facilities.

While the museum is being improved, we will be using the Prism Arts studio (Methodist Hall building, 5 Market St. close to the corner where the street meets Fisher St). Please note, there is no car parking available at the venue.

Upcoming sessions: 

• 16 October - Picturing Ourselves in print with Karen Babayan  Karen Babayan will support people to explore themes of identity and hidden histories through relief print media, easy-print tiles and by introducing the more challenging media of lino-cut. Using family photographs, postcards and objects of personal importance as source material, we will create something meaningful whilst learning about composition and design using a variety of substrates and colour, ideas and processes that can be easily reproduced and explored at home or in the studio, using minimum outlay.  We encourage people to bring a photograph, keepsake or drawing along to the session to inspire their work (but please keep them clean and safe). 

• 20th November - Tactile collages with Marisa Crane. Marisa is a neurodivergent multidisciplinary artist, working primarily in performance and multimedia installation. Having recently graduated from the University of Cumbria with an MA Creative Practice, her work is currently focused on personal narratives exploring her Autistic identity. At this session, Marisa will introduce hand embroidery as a technique to produce highly personal pieces of work through a practice which requires human touch and patience. Create your own multimedia embroidered or collaged piece to express yourself, learning a variety of techniques.

• 18th December - Sound Sketching! For this session, we invite you to Tullie! (Yes, we're re-opening!) Come and sketch with us inside the Sheila Fell exhibition - following and using creative prompts and exercises to help you create loose and expressive drawings filled with emotional power! Session followed by festive treats, so give yourself a little extra time if you want to stay for a little Xmas do.

Tullie animals – It’s raining cats and dogs!  

We’ll be bringing a whole host of Tullie collection items featuring some of our favourite furry friends, sharing a sensory story and inviting the group to share their memories. 

We’ll also be joined by an extremely cute 4-legged friend. 

Dec 4  

A groovy Christmas – 70's themed Christmas party! 

Join us for some retro games, pass the parcel, extra special sweet treats, a glass of something... but mainly singing and dancing!  

Feel free to bring any extra family or friends with you, but we ask you to book them a place if you’re able to.
